The New York Giants consider running back Saquon Barkley and quarterback Daniel Jones as part of their long-term future, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.

New York plans to try working out a contract with the two impending free agents this offseason, Rapoport adds.

The star running back and quarterback found their groove under first-year head coach Brian Daboll this campaign. Barkley rushed for 1,254 yards entering Week 17 for a career-high 83.6 yards per game.

Jones led the Giants to an 8-6-1 record through 15 games. He's also shown improvement in his accuracy and ball protection, completing a personal best 66.5% of his passes while only tossing five interceptions. He totaled 13 passing touchdowns and five rushing TDs.

The Giants declined the fifth-year option on Jones' rookie contract in April 2022.
