Bengals' Taylor unhappy with NFL's playoff adjustments

Cincinnati Bengals head coach Zac Taylor isn't happy with the NFL's decisions on potential playoff scenarios after the team's Week 17 game against the Buffalo Bills was ruled a no-contest.

"As far as I'm concerned, we just want the rules to be followed," Taylor said Friday, according to the Enquirer's Charlie Goldsmith. Under existing rules, winning percentage determines seeding, playoff matchups, and the home and away teams for those contests.

The league announced Thursday that the matchup between Cincinnati and Buffalo, which was postponed after Bills defensive back Damar Hamlin collapsed and suffered a cardiac arrest on the field Monday, wouldn't be resumed. At the same time, it announced potential changes to the location of playoff games involving the Bengals or Bills. NFL owners approved those potential changes Friday, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

The Bengals could lose out on a home playoff game despite being named AFC North champions following the cancellation of the matchup with Buffalo.

"It's opportunities lost for us. We had control and now we don't. There are positives for a lot of teams and negatives for us," Taylor said.

He added, "What's in front of us is to win this weekend and reclaim an opportunity for a home game."

If the Ravens beat the Bengals in Week 18 and are scheduled to play a wild-card game against each other, the location will be determined by a coin toss.
