Colts interview Chiefs' Bieniemy for head coaching vacancy
The Indianapolis Colts interviewed Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy for their head coaching vacancy Thursday, owner Jim Irsay announced.
Bieniemy interviewed for numerous head coaching vacancies across the league in recent years but hasn't secured a position.
He has served as Kansas City's offensive coordinator since 2018. The Chiefs finished first in scoring and yardage under Bieniemy this season and have never ranked lower than sixth in points per game during his five-year run as OC.
Bieniemy joins Colts special teams coordinator Bubba Ventrone and Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero as candidates who have already interviewed for the job.
Indianapolis has reportedly also requested an interview with Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris, Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn for the vacancy.
Jeff Saturday, who served as the interim coach in 2022 following the dismissal of Frank Reich, is also interested in taking over the job full time. General manager Chris Ballard said Tuesday that Saturday is a candidate.
