Report: Giants to release Golladay after 2 seasons
The New York Giants are planning to release wide receiver Kenny Golladay after two seasons with the team, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The Giants intend to file the transaction March 15, the first day of the new league year. Cutting Golladay will save the team $6.7 million in cap space, Schefter adds.
Golladay joined the NFC East club on a four-year, $72-million contract in 2021. However, he struggled mightily during his two-year tenure, catching just 43 passes for 602 yards and one touchdown with the Giants.
Golladay fell down the pecking order in 2022 under first-year head coach Brian Daboll. He recorded just six catches for 81 yards and one score while playing only 33% of the team's snaps, the lowest share of his career.
The 29-year-old found success with the Detroit Lions prior to his Giants stint. He put up consecutive seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards in 2018 and 2019.
