Richardson sets multiple QB records in dazzling NFL combine performance
Anthony Richardson was the star of the show during quarterback workouts at the NFL Scouting Combine on Saturday, making history with a performance that highlighted his rare athletic profile.
The Florida product broke quarterback combine records with his scores in the vertical jump (40.5 inches) and broad jump (10 feet, 9 inches), a pair of events that aim to measure an athlete's explosiveness. He then turned heads with a blazing 4.43 in the 40-yard dash, the third-fastest time for a quarterback in combine history.
Richardson's elite display of athleticism becomes even more impressive when considering that he tipped the scales at 6-4, 244 pounds during morning weigh-ins.
Richardson appeared to have generated some recent momentum after entering the pre-draft process considered by many to be a step behind Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, and Will Levis. Saturday's performance, and the Cam Newton athletic comparisons that can be expected to come with it, could take his stock to even greater heights ahead of April's draft.
NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah said during the broadcast that he's spoken to two teams not in the market for a quarterback that have Richardson ranked as their No. 2 signal-caller in this class.
Richardson declared for the 2023 draft on the heels of a season in which he threw for 2,549 yards, 17 touchdowns, and nine interceptions while recording 654 rushing yards and another nine scores on the ground.
