Hargrave headed to 49ers on 4-year, $84M deal
The San Francisco 49ers are signing former Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Javon Hargrave to a four-year, $84-million contract that contains $40 million guaranteed at signing, his agents confirmed to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Hargrave was the top defensive tackle available in this year's free-agent class. He put together the best work of his career in a dominant Eagles defense last season, with personal bests in sacks (11) and tackles for loss (10).
His $21-million average annual value puts him in a tie for the third-highest-paid defensive tackle in the NFL with DeForest Buckner, per Spotrac. He trails only Aaron Donald and Daron Payne in AAV.
The 30-year-old defensive tackle spent the last three seasons in Philadelphia after coming over as a free agent in 2020. He played the first four years of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers after being selected in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
Hargrave will join a 49ers pass rush headlined by Nick Bosa. San Francisco finished first in points and yardage allowed last season.
