Chiefs bringing in Jawaan Taylor on 4-year, $80M pact

The Kansas City Chiefs agreed to a four-year, $80-million contract with former Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor, his agents told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Taylor's deal includes $60 million guaranteed.

With Taylor joining the reigning Super Bowl champions, Orlando Brown is expected to hit the open market. Brown started every game for the Chiefs last season at left tackle while playing under the franchise tag, but the two sides weren't able to agree to a long-term deal this year.

Taylor presumably will replace Brown at left tackle, a position he doesn't have a lot of experience at. The 25-year-old played at right tackle almost exclusively in four seasons with Jacksonville, having logged only 18 snaps at on the left. The Florida product has started every game since being drafted in the second round in 2019.

Taylor was considered one of the top tackles available in free agency along with Brown, Mike McGlinchey, and Kaleb McGary. McGlinchey is also headed to the AFC West after reportedly agreeing to a five-year, $87.5-million contract with the Denver Broncos.

The Chiefs' offensive line stood out last season, ranking second in the NFL in pass block, according to PFF. The unit didn't allow a sack to the Philadelphia Eagles during Kansas City's victory in Super Bowl LVII.

Andrew Wylie, who played right tackle and guard for the Chiefs over the last five seasons, reportedly agreed to a three-year, $24-million deal with the Washington Commanders on Monday. 2020 third-round lineman Lucas Niang is a candidate to play right tackle for K.C. moving forward.
