Steelers signing Patrick Peterson on reported 2-year, $14M deal
Eight-time Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Peterson is joining the Pittsburgh Steelers, he confirmed Monday on his "All Things Covered" podcast, according to ESPN's Brooke Pryor.
Peterson is signing a two-year, $14-million contract with the Steelers, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
Peterson noted he spoke to the Minnesota Vikings - his former club - about a return but said they weren't able to "cross that line," according to ESPN's Kevin Seifert.
The 32-year-old added that he hopes to end his career with Pittsburgh, according to Pryor.
Peterson spent the last two seasons as a member of the Vikings, racking up 30 starts. He enjoyed a productive campaign in 2022 with five interceptions, his highest in a season since 2012.
He built a reputation as a ball-hawking playmaker during a 10-year tenure with the Arizona Cardinals. Peterson, who was picked fifth overall by the Cardinals in the 2011 draft, recorded 28 interceptions and 12 fumble recoveries in Arizona. He also made eight straight Pro Bowls from 2011-18.
The Steelers were looking for help in the secondary after reportedly losing Cam Sutton to the Detroit Lions in free agency.
Peterson becomes the most experienced addition to a Steelers cornerback group that also includes Levi Wallace, Ahkello Witherspoon, and Arthur Maulet, among others.
