Sources: Giants signing Okereke to 4-year, $40M pact
Former Indianapolis Colts linebacker Bobby Okereke plans to sign with the New York Giants on a four-year, $40-million deal that includes $22 million guaranteed, sources told Jordan Schultz, theScore's NFL insider.
Okereke racked up a career-high 151 tackles in 17 appearances last season - including six tackles for loss - to go along with two forced fumbles The 25-year-old, who became a full-time starter in Indianapolis in 2021, also improved in pass coverage, amassing five pass breakups in 2022.
The 2019 third-round pick now joins a Giants defense that ranked 17th after allowing 21.8 points per game last year. The inside linebacker position was one of New York's top priorities this offseason.
Okereke was one of the top inside linebackers available in a stacked free-agent class at the position. The group includes Tremaine Edmunds and T.J. Edwards, who've both reportedly agreed to join the Chicago Bears. Edmunds will reportedly sign a four-year, $72-million contract in Chicago, while Edwards is expected to ink a three-year contract worth $19.5 million.
