Report: David returning to Bucs on 1-year deal worth $7M
Linebacker Lavonte David is re-signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a one-year contract, he told Josina Anderson of CBS.
David's deal is worth $7 million guaranteed, sources told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport. The Bucs began finalizing the agreement Tuesday, Pelissero adds.
The 33-year-old linebacker was one of the top free agents at his position. He started all of the Bucs' 17 games last season, recording 124 tackles and three sacks.
Drafted in the second round of the 2012 draft, David spent his entire career in Tampa Bay. He's been a starter throughout his entire tenure and racked up 1,346 tackles, one first-team All-Pro selection, and one Super Bowl championship.
The Bucs have been fairly active in free agency, bringing back cornerback Jamel Dean on Monday and signing quarterback Baker Mayfield earlier Wednesday.
