Panthers ink Miles Sanders to reported 4-year, $25M pact
The Carolina Panthers agreed to terms with former Philadelphia Eagles running back Miles Sanders, the team announced Wednesday.
The Panthers gave Sanders a four-year contract worth $25 million, sources told ESPN's David Newton. The pact contains $13 million fully guaranteed, reports NFL Network's Mike Garafalo.
Sanders is expected to jump to the top of the Panthers' running back depth chart upon arrival. D'Onta Foreman led the team in rushing last season with 914 yards but is a free agent. Chuba Hubbard, who averaged 4.9 yards per carry in 2022, rounds out the running back room.
The 25-year-old Sanders has spearheaded the Eagles' rushing attack since his 2019 rookie campaign. He's led the team in rushing in three of his four seasons. He only trailed Jalen Hurts in rushing yards during the 2021 campaign.
Sanders has put up at least 750 yards in every season.
His 2022 season was his best to date, as he recorded a career-high 1,269 yards. It was also his biggest workload, with 259 carries.
Sanders' departure from Philadelphia was foreshadowed when the franchise signed Rashaad Penny as a free agent earlier this week.
