Jets' Lazard: 'It feels good knowing' Rodgers will be my QB again

Allen Lazard, the New York Jets' newest wide receiver, is looking forward to reuniting with Aaron Rodgers.

The former Green Bay Packers receiver said he's kept in touch with Rodgers as the two work out at the same place in Los Angeles but noted there was never a plan to move to the Jets together.

"There was no implications of trying to do this, in a sense," Lazard said, per SNY. "Like I previously said, we were both trying to do what's right for the both of us."

He added: "Obviously, standing here today, it feels good knowing that 12's going to be my quarterback again."

Rodgers stated his intention earlier this week to play for the Jets in 2023, signaling the end of an 18-year run in Green Bay in which he won four league MVPs and a Super Bowl title. However, the two teams are reportedly not close to finalizing a trade.

The Jets signed Lazard to a reported four-year, $44-million deal in free agency. The wideout played alongside Rodgers for five years and served as his No. 1 target last season after hauling in 60 receptions for 788 yards.

Lazard credited the veteran for helping him end up in New York.

"He's a big reason why I'm here today. I can't deny that," Lazard said, according to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic. "He stood on a table for me in training camp when I didn't deserve to make the roster, he called for me to be in the games, and he's always believed in me."

The 27-year-old receiver said Rodgers would "elevate everyone's potential" and make lifting a Lombardi Trophy the expectation for the Jets.

"I think with Aaron Rodgers as quarterback, the possibility of wins is always a thing. With that being said, it's really the Super Bowl," Lazard said, per SNY.
