Source: Raiders signing Hooper to 1-year deal
The Las Vegas Raiders are signing veteran tight end Austin Hooper to a one-year contract, a source told Jordan Schultz, theScore's NFL insider.
It is a $2.75-million deal worth up to $3.5 million, reports Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
The Raiders confirmed the signing later Wednesday.
The 28-year-old spent the 2022 season with the Tennessee Titans, catching 41 passes for 444 yards and two touchdowns. He previously played with the Atlanta Falcons (2016-19) and Cleveland Browns (2020-21).
A third-round pick in 2016, Hooper earned consecutive Pro Bowl nods with the Falcons in 2018 and 2019. The Stanford product posted career highs with 75 receptions, 787 yards, and six touchdowns in 2019.
Hooper could start for the Raiders, who recently traded star tight end Darren Waller to the New York Giants. Las Vegas signed tight end O.J. Howard on Monday as well.
Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, among others, are also joining the AFC West club in 2023.
