Tampa Bay Buccaneers edge rusher Shaq Barrett expects to be on the field in Week 1 when the 2023 campaign kicks off after he tore his Achilles in Week 8 last season.

"The absolute latest timeline should still have me ready, back by Week 1," Barrett said on the "No Off Days" podcast. "So even if I do go to late as possible, I should be still here ready to go for Week 1."

Barrett finished the 2022 season with 31 total tackles, a forced fumble, three sacks, and six tackles for loss.

Despite Barrett missing over half of the season, the Buccaneers still finished tied for seventh in team sacks with 45, but the team struggled to find its footing and stumbled to an 8-9 record.

The 30-year-old went undrafted in 2014 and has since compiled 19 forced fumbles and 54.5 sacks, including a league-high 19.5 in 2019, in 115 career games. Barrett's also made two Pro Bowls and won two Super Bowls: Super Bowl 50 with the Denver Broncos and Super Bowl LV with the Bucs.
