Colts' Steichen: Richardson showing 'next-level stuff' on the field
Indianapolis Colts rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson has been showing why he was picked fourth overall in this year's draft.
"He made some big plays today ... some next-level stuff," head coach Shane Steichen said Thursday, according to ESPN's Stephen Holder.
Steichen added that Richardson has been sharing first-team reps in OTAs with veteran quarterback Gardner Minshew.
"Anthony's getting some reps with the ones, Gardner's getting some reps with the ones, and we'll see how it plays out," Steichen told reporters, including Joel A. Erickson of IndyStar.
Richardson entered the 2023 NFL Draft as one of the most talked about quarterback prospects due to his athleticism, arm strength, and high ceiling. Despite concerns over his lack of experience, the Florida product said after the draft that he's aiming to be the Week 1 starter.
The Colts are looking to rebound from a disastrous 2022 campaign that saw the team finish with a 4-12-1 record and the 30th-ranked scoring offense.
