Bengals' Chase says Burrow is NFL's best QB: 'Pat who?'
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase disagrees with most fans regarding who the NFL's best quarterback is.
Chase was asked to name football's top player this week and didn't hesitate to name his own QB, Joe Burrow.
"Burrow, everybody knows that. That's easy. MVP," Chase said.
"Pat who?" he added after being told Burrow himself ranked Patrick Mahomes ahead of him.
Mahomes' personal trainer, Bobby Stroupe, took notice of Chase's quotes, sharing it on Twitter with the caption, "Thank you."
Burrow said Tuesday that the Kansas City Chiefs superstar is undoubtedly the league's top QB.
"I don't think there's any argument right now," the star signal-caller said, according to Emily Sanderson of WLWT5. "It's Pat, until somebody has a better year than he's had, he's the one to knock off."
Burrow has put on a show since entering the NFL as the No. 1 pick in 2020. The LSU product, whose rookie campaign ended prematurely due to a torn ACL, won the 2021 Comeback Player of the Year award and finished fourth for MVP last season.
Burrow - who's 3-1 as a starter against Mahomes, including the playoffs - also helped the Bengals reach Super Bowl LVI, falling short against the Los Angeles Rams.
Mahomes, however, is a two-time regular-season MVP who's already led Kansas City to two Super Bowl titles in three appearances. The 2017 10th overall pick won his second MVP last year after leading the NFL with 5,250 yards and 41 touchdown passes. He was then named Super Bowl LVII MVP after defeating the Philadelphia Eagles in the big game.
The Chiefs and Bengals have formed one of the NFL's best rivalries in recent years. They've met in the AFC title game in each of the last two seasons, trading wins. Cincinnati will visit Kansas City in Week 17.
