Bears' Fields: Chemistry with D.J. Moore developed quickly

It didn't take long for Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields and his new No. 1 target, wide receiver D.J. Moore, to establish chemistry.

"It did come on quickly," Fields said, according to ESPN's Courtney Cronin. "I didn't really expect anything because it's different for each guy, but I feel like with D.J., his body language is pretty easy to read. Early on we communicated on how we want each route ran and stuff like that."

The Bears landed Moore as part of a blockbuster trade with the Carolina Panthers in March. The 26-year-old - who was drafted 24th overall in 2018 - topped 1,000 receiving yards in three of his five NFL seasons.

"He has a lot of experience," Fields said of Moore. "He's been in the league for a good period of time now. He's played a lot of football, so he knows different coverages really well. That's one thing that I was kind of impressed about with the offense coming in and just understanding, seeing coverages really well on short routes and stuff like that. He's been great. And you know, the chemistry has really picked up."

The Fields-to-Moore connection has also impressed members of Chicago's defense this offseason.

"They got that chemistry going very fast, earlier than I expected," Bears safety Jaquan Brisker said last week, according to "The BFR Podcast." "They look good though, they look like best friends."

Chicago has high expectations for Fields this season - he threw for 2,242 yards and 17 touchdown passes against 11 interceptions in 15 games last year. He also ran for 1,143 yards and eight scores.

After averaging only 19.2 points per game in 2022, the Bears also bolstered their offense in this year's draft, selecting offensive tackle Darnell Wright in the first round and wide receiver Tyler Scott in the fourth.
