Packers GM Gutekunst: 'We're not going to trade' Bakhtiari
Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst says he isn't planning to move three-time Pro Bowl left tackle David Bakhtiari any time soon.
"First of all, we're not going to trade David," Gutekunst said Friday, according to USA TODAY's Ryan Wood. "So just get that out of the way."
Bakhtiari, a former All-Pro, was seemingly recruited by New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers on his Instagram story Thursday.
Bakhtiari and Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams were tagged alongside Rodgers' current teammate, Garrett Wilson, driving speculation that Bakhtiari could be on the move.
Rodgers, Bakhtiari, and Adams were three of the Packers' most important pieces from 2016-21 before Adams joined the Raiders ahead of the 2022 season.
The Jets' tackle spots are two of the most precarious positions on the roster right now, and Bakhtiari would've added familiarity and an elite blocker when healthy.
Some combination of Billy Turner, Mekhi Becton, Max Mitchell, Carter Warren, and Duane Brown are expected to handle the bulk of the snaps, but injuries and inconsistency have kept the team from solidifying those positions for several seasons.
Bakhtiari's own injury worries are something that he and the Packers are also managing. The 31-year-old has only played in a combined 24 games over the last three campaigns due to knee issues, but Gutekunst said Bakhtiari is in "a good place" with regards to handling his workload right now, per Wood.
