Bengals' Awuzie to play Week 1 vs. Browns
Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Chidobe Awuzie will suit up for the team's Week 1 matchup with the Cleveland Browns, head coach Zac Taylor said Monday, according to ESPN's Ben Baby.
Awuzie played in just eight games in 2022 before tearing his ACL against the Browns.
The 28-year-old provides experience to a young Bengals secondary. 2022 second-rounder Cam Taylor-Britt and rookie DJ Turner are expected to see plenty of snaps this season at corner, while last year's first-round pick, Dax Hill, is set to be the team's starter at free safety.
Awuzie's best season came in 2021 when the team reached Super Bowl LVI. He picked off two passes, deflected another 14, and collected 64 total tackles.
The 6-foot, 202-pounder has tallied six interceptions, 56 pass deflections, and 312 total tackles since the Dallas Cowboys drafted him with the No. 60 pick in the 2017 draft.
