Deion: I'd never leave college for NFL coaching job
Deion Sanders has taken over the world of college football. And the Colorado head coach says even if the NFL came knocking, he wouldn't be tempted to leave.
"I would never do that," Sanders said Friday on "The Rich Eisen Show."
Sanders doesn't think his coaching style would translate to the NFL as he would have difficulty motivating highly paid professional athletes.
"I would start with 53 (players) and come out of the locker room at halftime with about 38," Sanders said.
He continued, "I love college. I love (that) the young men are still impressionable. They're not so financially wealthy that they can't hear you. At the next level, some of these guys make so much money they can't hear."
Sanders has been the talk of college football after launching Colorado to a 2-0 start this season. He took the job earlier this year after spending the last three seasons at Jackson State.
The 56-year-old was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011 after a decorated NFL playing career. Sanders racked up eight Pro Bowl nods, one Defensive Player of the Year selection, and two Super Bowl rings.
