Report: Raiders place Jones on NFI list as DE deals with personal issue

The Las Vegas Raiders placed pass-rusher Chandler Jones on the non-football illness list, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Jones, who's been away from the team facility this month, missed Las Vegas' first two games this season while dealing with what the Raiders described as a "private" issue. By placing the former first-round pick on the NFI list, the Raiders won't have the 11-year veteran for at least their next four games, notes Mark Anderson of The Associated Press.

"It's a personal situation and a private matter," Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels said Sept. 6, according to NFL.com. "We have dealt with it."

Jones has strongly criticized the Raiders on social media. He recently suggested in since-deleted posts that he no longer wants to play for McDaniels and Raiders general manager Dave Ziegler.

Earlier this month, the 33-year-old said the Raiders' front office sent someone from the city's crisis response team to his home. He said the club hasn't allowed him to play this year.

Jones joined the Raiders during the 2022 offseason on a three-year contract. The four-time Pro Bowler recorded 4.5 sacks in his first season with the club.
