Eagles' Brown: Sideline exchange doesn't mean I'm beefing with Hurts

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown addressed his sideline outburst with Jalen Hurts in Week 2 for the first time on Thursday, saying he has no issues with the quarterback despite the incident.

"It was a discussion," Brown said, according to Josh Tolentino of The Philadelphia Inquirer. "This is a game that we both love, and I want everybody to understand that sometimes emotions run high. ... That doesn't mean it's the end of the world. That doesn't mean I'm beefing with Jalen."

Brown and Hurts had an exchange during last week's 34-28 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. Head coach Nick Sirianni interjected and started talking to Brown while Hurts walked away.

Hurts then targeted Brown three times on Philadelphia's following offensive drive, leaving many wondering if the discussion was triggered by the number of times Brown was being targeted in the game. However, the 26-year-old wideout - who left the stadium without speaking to the media that night - said the incident was about something else.

"It was not about targets," Brown said. "It was something that happened earlier, and we were just having a discussion about it. I know everybody took that out of context but it's not a big deal. We're still on the same page."

He added: "The reason I left after the game is because my emotion was high, so I had to remove myself. ... I just had to clear my mind."

Brown led the Eagles with 1,496 yards and 11 touchdown catches in 2022. He finished the Vikings game with four receptions for 29 yards on six targets. The two-time Pro Bowler, who has yet to catch a touchdown this season, amassed seven catches and 79 yards in Week 1.

Philly visits the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday in Week 3.
