Vikings' O'Connell: Players will be benched if turnovers continue
Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell issued a public warning Monday that players could find themselves on the bench if they don't protect the football.
"I think that's something we're going to fix one way or the other," O'Connell said, according to ESPN's Kevin Seifert. "Either guys are going to (fix) it, or we're going to have to put other guys in the game that have ball security."
The Vikings committed nine turnovers through three games, all losses. Running back Alexander Mattison has struggled with ball security after several fumbles over the last two weeks, though only one stood after review. Kirk Cousins has also thrown two interceptions, including a game-ending pick in the end zone during Sunday's loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
"We need to end every snap with the football in our hands," O'Connell said.
Minnesota sits at 0-3 on the season with a turnover differential of minus-7.
