Daboll explains Jones exchange, tablet toss on Giants' sideline after pick-6

New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll was visibly frustrated at Daniel Jones and was seen tossing a tablet on the sideline after the quarterback threw a brutal 97-yard pick-6 in the third quarter.

Daboll, the reigning Coach of the Year, addressed the incident and his exchange with Jones with the media following a 24-3 home loss to the Seattle Seahawks that dropped New York to 1-3 this season.

"I was just trying to see what he thought and tell him what I saw," Daboll said of the situation, according to Giants Videos.

The Giants trailed 14-3 and managed a long drive late in the third quarter before Seahawks rookie Devon Witherspoon intercepted Jones' pass and returned it for a touchdown to seal Seattle's victory.

"Obviously, not throw an interception," Daboll said when asked what he wanted Jones to do on the play. The 48-year-old didn't get into further specifics.

"Terrible decision, awful mistake. Can't afford to do that," Jones said of the pick-6.

Seattle's defense put on a show on Monday Night Football, registering two interceptions and sacking Jones 10 times. The Giants' signal-caller, who signed a four-year, $160-million extension in March, finished the game with 27 completions on 34 pass attempts for 203 yards. He also carried the ball 10 times for 66 yards.

New York ranks dead last in scoring after four weeks, with the team recording more than 12 points only once so far this season. Daboll understands Giants fans' disappointment.

"I'd be upset, too, if I was a fan," he said. "There's a lot of things we gotta do better, and that's what we'll try to do."

The Giants visit the 3-1 Miami Dolphins in Week 5.
