The Las Vegas Raiders will start quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo in Monday night's game against the Detroit Lions, head coach Josh McDaniels announced Saturday.

"Good to go," McDaniels said of Garoppolo, according to Andrew Siciliano of NFL Network.

Garoppolo returned to practice this week after missing Las Vegas' 30-12 loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 7 with a back injury.

The Raiders struggled at quarterback versus Chicago, with veteran Brian Hoyer starting. Hoyer completed just 17 of 32 attempts for 129 yards and zero touchdowns against two interceptions. Rookie Aidan O'Connell - who previously started Week 4 when Garoppolo was in the concussion protocol - replaced Hoyer late with the Bears game out of reach, going 10-for-13 passing with 75 yards and one TD to one pick.

Garoppolo has completed 68% of his passes while passing for 1,079 yards and seven touchdowns against a league-high eight interceptions in five starts so far this season. The 31-year-old signed a three-year contract with Las Vegas in the offseason.

The 3-4 Raiders have struggled offensively in 2023, ranking 30th in the NFL with 16 points per game.
