Chase Young has only been a member of the 49ers for a few days, but the defensive end said he's already impressed with what he's seen in San Francisco.

"Just the culture, the vibe is a lot different. I definitely know that I'm in a building with winners," Young said Monday, according to NBC Sports Bay Area.

He added: "Just the players. The spirit in the locker room, the spirit of the coaches, it's just different. It's kind of the same thing as Ohio State where you're expected to win."

The Commanders sent Young to the 49ers last week in exchange for a compensatory third-round pick in 2024. The Ohio State product took the NFL by storm when he entered the league as the 2020 No. 2 overall pick and was named Defensive Rookie of the Year. However, he hasn't replicated that success, with injuries limiting him to only 12 appearances in 2021 and 2022 combined.

A healthy Young had a strong start to the 2023 season in Washington, though, amassing 15 tackles (six for loss), nine QB hits, and five sacks.

"I wasn't mad," he said when asked about his first reaction to the trade.

The 24-year-old joined a stacked defense in San Francisco that features reigning Defensive Player of the Year Nick Bosa, a former teammate of Young at Ohio State.

"Even in college, we never thought that we'd be able to play with each other, so it's a blessing," Young said, adding that Bosa called him five minutes after learning about the trade.

Coming off a bye, the 5-3 49ers will try to snap their three-game losing streak in Week 10 against the 6-2 Jacksonville Jaguars. San Francisco leads the NFC West.
