Joe Flacco signs with Browns
Former Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco signed to the Cleveland Browns' practice squad, the team announced Monday.
Flacco will provide additional quarterback depth to a Browns team that lost Deshaun Watson to a season-ending shoulder injury. It is expected that Flacco will be promoted to the active roster.
The 38-year-old worked out for Cleveland earlier this week but left without a deal.
A first-round pick in 2008, Flacco spent the 2022 season with the New York Jets. He made four starts last year with his only win coming against the Browns - a game in which he threw four touchdowns and zero interceptions.
Flacco will be part of a Browns quarterback room that also features P.J. Walker and fifth-round rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson.
Thompson-Robinson led the team to a 13-10 victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, throwing for 165 yards and adding another 20 yards on the ground. However, he did not score and threw one interception. Walker has also played this season but has struggled to the tune of one touchdown and five interceptions.
Cleveland sits second in the AFC North with a 7-3 record.
