New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr didn't return to the team's 33-28 loss to the Detroit Lions after sustaining shoulder and back injuries and being placed in concussion protocol.
Pass-rusher Bruce Irvin drove his body weight into Carr as the signal-caller released a pass. Carr left for the locker room after taking the hit.
Jameis Winston replaced Carr at quarterback, with Taysom Hill taking occasional snaps as normal.
Carr completed 17 of 22 pass attempts for 226 yards, one touchdown, and one interception before suffering the injury.
The 32-year-old has exited several other contests this season with shoulder ailments and a concussion but hasn't missed a start.
