Report: Texans' Stroud likely out again vs. Browns

Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud is still in the concussion protocol and is expected to miss his second consecutive game, ESPN's DJ Bien-Aime reports.

The signal-caller missed the team's 19-16 overtime win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday after suffering a concussion against the New York Jets in Week 14.

Veteran Case Keenum started in place of Stroud against the Titans and is expected to get the nod again if the rookie can't go. Keenum completed 23 of 36 passes for 229 yards, one touchdown, and one interception last week.

Davis Mills, a 2021 third-rounder, is expected to back up Keenum. The team also signed Tim Boyle to its practice squad Tuesday, a source told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

Stroud has been one of the NFL's most productive rookies since being selected second overall in April's draft. The 22-year-old has thrown 20 touchdowns against just five interceptions while completing 62.4% of his attempts for 3,631 yards in 13 games. His 1.1% interception rate is the best mark in the league among qualified passers, per Pro Football Reference.
