Lions' LaPorta active vs. Rams despite knee injury
Detroit Lions tight end Sam LaPorta is officially active for Sunday's wild-card game against the Los Angeles Rams.
LaPorta suffered a hyperextended knee and bone bruise in the final game of the regular season. He's expected to wear a brace against the Rams, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero.
The second-team All-Pro selection was listed as a nonparticipant in the team's Wednesday and Thursday practices but participated in full on Friday.
The rookie was an immediate contributor for Detroit after being selected 34th overall in the draft. LaPorta hauled in 86 passes for 889 yards and 10 touchdowns during the regular season.
The Iowa product's 10 scores are tied with Rob Gronkowski for the second most by a rookie tight end, trailing only Mike Ditka's 12.
