Rams' Nacua sets rookie record for receiving yards in playoff game
The Los Angeles Rams fell short against the Detroit Lions, but Puka Nacua added another impressive achievement to his rookie season.
The Rams receiver set the rookie record for most receiving yards in a playoff game during Sunday's 24-23 loss to the Lions.
The record previously belonged to Seattle Seahawks wideout DK Metcalf, who caught 160 yards against the Philadelphia Eagles in January 2020. Nacua broke Metcalf's mark with a long catch in the fourth quarter.
The record-breaking reception gave Nacua nine catches for 181 yards and one touchdown versus the Lions.
Despite entering the NFL as a fifth-round pick, Nacua finished the 2023 regular season with 105 catches, 1,468 yards, and six touchdowns en route to earning a second-team All-Pro berth.
The BYU product, who was only the 20th wide receiver off the board in 2023, has broken several rookie records, including the most receiving yards in a season, a mark that was originally set in 1960.
However, Nacua isn't expected to be named Offensive Rookie of the Year. Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud is the favorite to take home that award after leading the NFL in passing yards per game and TD/INT ratio in Year 1.
