Report: Bears to interview ex-Packers DC Barry for coordinator job
The Chicago Bears will interview former Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Joe Barry on Saturday for the same role on their staff, NFL Network's Jane Slater reports.
The Packers dismissed Barry earlier this week after three seasons. Green Bay's defense enjoyed its best season under Barry in 2023 after ranking 10th in points allowed.
However, Barry's unit was often criticized for its inconsistency. In Week 16, the Packers surrendered 33 points against the Carolina Panthers, who ranked 31st in scoring.
Barry will also be interviewing with the Philadelphia Eagles for their linebackers coach position, Slater adds.
In addition to Barry, the Bears will meet with Buffalo Bills defensive line coach Eric Washington as well for their defensive coordinator vacancy, per Slater.
