Report: Packers among teams interested in Staley for DC job
The Green Bay Packers and Miami Dolphins will interview former Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley about their vacant defensive coordinator positions, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The Los Angeles Rams are also interested in Staley for their defensive coordinator opening, Schefter adds.
Staley was the Rams' DC before becoming the Chargers' head coach in 2021. He lasted two-plus years with the Chargers but was fired after a 5-9 start in 2023, which included a 63-21 loss in his final game. Los Angeles' defense never finished better than 21st in points allowed during his head coaching tenure.
Raheem Morris left the Rams' defensive coordinator post to take the Atlanta Falcons' head coaching job earlier this week.
Meanwhile, the Packers have to replace former defensive coordinator Joe Barry after firing him. Barry spent three seasons with the team. Meanwhile, the Dolphins' defensive coordinator position opened after Vic Fangio left to take the same role with the Philadelphia Eagles.
In his lone season as the Rams' defensive coordinator in 2020, Staley's unit ranked first in points and yards allowed.
