Bell eyes NFL comeback, interested in playing for Steelers
Former three-time Pro Bowl running back Le'Veon Bell is trying to get back to the NFL.
Bell said Friday night on Snapchat that he'll start working toward his comeback in March, though he implied he's only interested in playing for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
"And I'm gonna be honest with myself. I got to go out there and be like, I'm going to put my foot in the ground. Do I feel it? Am I hurting? Can I go out there and really play again?" Bell said, according to ESPN. "And bro, I'm telling you all right now when I go out there and train in March, and if I hit April and I make this decision to come back to play in the NFL again, mark my words down, I will be better than I ever was."
He added: "And I will only come back for that one team. You all know who it is. I don't have to say no team. You all know who it is."
Bell previously admitted in an appearance on the "Steel Here" podcast he wants to retire with the Steelers and aspired to play again for the team before retiring.
Bell started his career with Pittsburgh and quickly became one of the NFL's most dynamic running backs. He totaled over 1,800 yards from scrimmage in three of his first five seasons, including a franchise-record 2,215 yards from scrimmage in 2014.
However, his time with the Steelers began to unravel when he was franchise tagged for a second time in 2018. Bell elected not to sign the tag and sat out the entire 2018 season before signing with the New York Jets the following offseason.
The Jets released Bell during his second year with the team in 2020, and he later spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Baltimore Ravens. He hasn't played in the NFL since 2021.
