Report: Lions to meet with St. Brown's reps to talk extension
The Detroit Lions are scheduled to meet with wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown's representatives later this week to talk about an extension, according to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.
No deal is imminent despite the club's interest in retaining St. Brown, Birkett adds.
The 24-year-old is eligible for a contract extension as he enters the final year of his rookie deal. He's slated to earn roughly $3.4 million this season, according to Over the Cap.
St. Brown was selected No. 112 overall in the 2021 draft and led the Lions in every major receiving category last season, tallying 119 receptions, 1,515 yards, and 10 touchdowns. He earned a first-team All-Pro nod for the first time in his career in 2023.
An extension will likely come with an average annual value between $25 million and $30 million. Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill is currently the league's highest-paid wideout with an average value of $30 million per season, while 14 different receivers have deals worth $20 million per year or more, per Over the Cap.
St. Brown reached at least 90 receptions and 900 yards in each of his first three campaigns. The USC product has totaled 3,588 yards and 21 touchdowns on 315 catches in 49 career games.
