Barrett headed to Dolphins on 1-year deal worth up to $9M
Free-agent pass-rusher Shaq Barrett is signing with the Miami Dolphins, he told Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz.
Barrett agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $9 million, his agents told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The Dolphins needed depth at the position with Jaelan Phillips recovering from a torn Achilles, Bradley Chubb working back from a torn ACL, and Andrew Van Ginkel reportedly signing with the Minnesota Vikings.
The 31-year-old Barrett led the NFL in sacks (19.5) during his first season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2019, earning a second-team All-Pro nomination and one of his two career Pro Bowl nods.
Barrett started his career as an undrafted free agent with the Denver Broncos in 2014. He won a Super Bowl with the Broncos in 2015 and earned a second championship with the Bucs in 2020.
Tampa Bay released the veteran pass-rusher in February with one season remaining on his four-year, $72-million contract.
