Alabama safety Jaylen Key is this year's "Mr. Irrelevant" after the New York Jets selected him with the final pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, No. 257 overall.
Key started his college career at UAB in 2019. He spent four years with the CUSA program before transferring to Alabama ahead of the 2023 season.
Key's final campaign with UAB was his most productive as a ballhawk, recording three interceptions and a pass deflection. He also had a pair of forced fumbles.
The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder racked up 60 total tackles (1.5 for loss), an interception, and a pass deflection in his lone year with the Crimson Tide.
Key joins a secondary that features Sauce Gardner, D.J. Reed, and Chuck Clark, among others.
