Bears sign Moore to 4-year extension worth reported $110M
The Chicago Bears signed wide receiver DJ Moore to a four-year extension, the team announced Tuesday.
The deal is worth $110 million with $82.6 million guaranteed, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Moore had two seasons left on a three-year, $61.8-million extension he signed with the Carolina Panthers during the 2022 offseason. Chicago acquired the star pass-catcher in March 2023 in a trade that sent last year's No. 1 overall pick to Carolina. The Panthers used that selection on quarterback Bryce Young.
Moore's new contract is the largest deal in Bears history, notes Schefter. He's now signed through the 2029 season.
"I'm extremely excited to be able to re-sign DJ," Chicago general manager Ryan Poles said in a statement. "We all know he's an impact player and a difference-maker for our offense, but his leadership and professionalism make him a cornerstone of our franchise."
Moore set career highs with 96 catches, 1,364 yards, and eight touchdowns in 2023, his first year with the Bears. The 27-year-old has topped 1,000 yards in four seasons since being drafted 24th overall in 2018. He hasn't missed a game in the last three campaigns.
Moore headlines a stacked Bears offense in 2024. After drafting quarterback Caleb Williams first overall this year, Chicago added significant weapons, trading for wide receiver Keenan Allen and using a top-10 selection on Rome Odunze.
It's been a hot year for wide receivers, as pass-catchers continue to sign lucrative deals. Moore's new $27.5-million average annual salary now ranks seventh at his position, according to Spotrac.
Justin Jefferson tops all wideouts with a salary of $35 million per year. The Minnesota Vikings star was one of three wide receivers this year who signed a contract worth at least $30 million per season, along with A.J. Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles and Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions.
