Report: Rams' top FA acquisition Jackson out 6 weeks due to injury
New Los Angeles Rams guard Jonah Jackson is expected to miss around six weeks after sustaining a bruised scapula, a source told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
Jackson was seen on the sidelines at training camp with his left arm in a sling.
The 27-year-old was the Rams' biggest signing in free agency this year, joining the team on a three-year, $51-million contract. The former Pro Bowl left guard played his first four NFL seasons for the Detroit Lions. He's been a reliable interior lineman, but injuries have prevented him from playing a full season in each of the last two campaigns.
With his latest injury, Jackson is at risk of missing the Rams' season opener against the Lions, which is scheduled for Sept. 8. Zach Thomas could be in line to start at LG if Jackson remains sidelined. The team also rosters seventh-round rookie left guard KT Leveston.
Steve Avila played LG for the Rams in 2023, but the club moved him to center after signing Jackson.
Los Angeles has also been missing left tackle Alaric Jackson, who's dealing with an ankle injury at camp.
