Buffalo Bills linebacker Matt Milano is out indefinitely after tearing his biceps at practice Tuesday, head coach Sean McDermott announced, according to Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network.

Milano sustained the injury while tackling in a bag drill, per McDermott, who added that it's still too early to determine if he could return later this year.

The 2022 All-Pro defender - who played only five games in 2023 - will reportedly undergo surgery and hopes to potentially return in December, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

"It's an unfortunate situation," McDermott added. "He's resilient. We've got to be resilient."

Another significant injury to Milano is a huge blow to the Bills' defense, as the 30-year-old has been a key contributor to the team since being drafted in the fifth round in 2017. The former Boston College stud fractured his leg in Week 5 last year and missed the remainder of the season.

A complete linebacker with elite coverage skills, Milano earned a Pro Bowl nod and first-team All-Pro berth in 2022 when he played 15 games. He finished that campaign with 99 tackles (12 for loss), 11 pass breakups, three interceptions (one pick-6), and 1.5 sacks.

Milano has recorded 488 tackles in 90 career NFL appearances with Buffalo.

With Milano sidelined, the Bills will likely rely on 2023 third-round pick Dorian Williams to start at inside linebacker alongside Terrel Bernard, who broke out last year with 143 tackles and 6.5 sacks. Buffalo also rosters LBs Baylon Spector, Deion Jones, Nicholas Morrow, and Edefuan Ulofoshio, among others.
