Former NFL quarterback Colt McCoy is retiring from the NFL to join NBC Sports as an analyst for its Big Ten Football coverage, the company announced Monday.

McCoy will appear on the "Big Ten College Countdown" show. He'll make his broadcasting debut for the Colorado versus Nebraska contest Sept. 7.

"College football has always held a special place in my heart. With the expansion of the Big Ten and (a) new era of college football, it is the perfect time to join NBC Sports," McCoy said in a statement. "I can't wait to share in the passion, excitement, and competitive spirit every week!"

The 37-year-old was a two-time Heisman Trophy finalist at the University of Texas. He played 53 games during his college career with the Longhorns, totaling 13,243 yards and 112 touchdowns.

McCoy was selected in the third round of the 2010 draft by the Cleveland Browns. He made 36 starts during his NFL career with the Browns, San Francisco 49ers, Washington Commanders, New York Giants, and, most recently, the Arizona Cardinals. McCoy holds an 11-25 record with 7,975 passing yards, 34 touchdowns, and 32 interceptions.

The Texas product last played in an NFL game in 2022. He called USFL games for NBC in 2023.
