New York Jets edge rusher Jermaine Johnson is out for the season with a torn Achilles, Johnson confirmed Monday on X.
Johnson said he's in great spirits and that the injury is "just another opportunity to brag about what I came from."
The 25-year-old was carted off the field with the injury during the club's Week 2 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
Johnson played 59% of the team's defensive snaps through the first two games, totaling four solo tackles and a tackle for loss. He also had seven hurries, per PFF.
The 2022 first-rounder is coming off the first Pro Bowl campaign of his career. He tallied 7.5 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, and 16 quarterback hits in 2023.
