49ers' Kittle downgraded to out for Week 3 matchup
San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle has officially been downgraded to out for the team's Week 3 contest against the Los Angeles Rams, the team announced Saturday.
Kittle was originally listed as doubtful with a hamstring injury.
The 30-year-old has totaled 116 yards and a touchdown on 11 receptions through two games. He's played 82% of the team's offensive snaps.
Eric Saubert is expected to handle the bulk of San Francisco's tight end snaps in Kittle's absence. The 30-year-old journeyman has caught two of his three targets for 26 yards this season. Jake Tonges is likely to operate as Saubert's primary backup.
Kittle is one of several playmakers who won't suit up against the Rams, joining running back Christian McCaffrey and wide receivers Deebo Samuel and Ricky Pearsall.
