Bengals' Taylor-Britt: 'I can eat my words' after loss to Commanders
Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt won't take back his comments about the Commanders looking like a college offense despite Cincinnati's 38-33 loss to Washington on Monday night.
"I do not regret it," Taylor-Britt told reporters after the contest, including Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer. "And I didn't mean anything malicious out of the comment. It was just made bigger than what it was. Yes, I can eat my words, most definitely."
Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels completed 21 of 23 pass attempts for 254 yards and a pair of touchdowns during the contest. The LSU product picked up 55 of those yards on a downfield strike to Terry McLaurin with Taylor-Britt in coverage.
Daniels also added 39 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Washington finished with over 100 rushing yards in its win.
Taylor-Britt maintains that it "was sort of a college offense."
"Very quick, quick throws," the 24-year-old corner said. "(Daniels) is very athletic and can extend plays. ... They stuck to their plan, and it worked."
Head coach Zac Taylor wasn't pleased with Taylor-Britt's comments, even if the corner believes they were blown out of proportion.
"That's not what we do," Taylor said postgame, per The 33rd Team's Ari Meirov. "We praise our own team, praise the other team. We don't need to take shots like that. That team hasn't punted in two weeks."
Washington's last punt came in Week 1. The team has scored 59 points over the last two games, and its 26.3 points per game on the season ranks fifth in the NFL.
The Bengals will look to secure their first win of the season when they visit the Carolina Panthers in Week 4. Meanwhile, the Commanders will try to extend their winning streak to three games when they play the Arizona Cardinals.
