Report: Chiefs' Rice feared to have torn ACL
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice exited Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers with a right knee injury.
It's feared that Rice tore his ACL, a source told James Palmer of Bleacher Report.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid said postgame that Rice will have an MRI on Monday.
The second-year wideout appeared to sustain the injury after quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw an interception. Mahomes appeared to hit Rice's legs while attempting to tackle Chargers defensive back Kristian Fulton on the interception return.
Rice walked toward the Chiefs' sideline with some assistance. He was examined by the team's medical staff before being carted to the locker room with a towel over his head.
The SMU product entered Week 4 as the Chiefs' leading receiver with 28 receptions for 288 yards and two touchdowns. Rice flourished in his rookie campaign, recording 79 catches for 938 yards and seven touchdowns during Kansas City's Super Bowl LVIII run last season.
With Rice likely to miss extended time, the Chiefs' options at wide receiver are Skyy Moore, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and 2024 first-round pick Xavier Worthy, among others. Kansas City also rosters tight end Travis Kelce, who posted his best game of the season in Sunday's 17-10 win over the Chargers with seven catches for 89 yards.
Rice is the latest player to get hurt on a Chiefs offense that lost running back Isiah Pacheco to a fibula injury and wideout Hollywood Brown to shoulder surgery earlier this month.
