Jerry Jones threatens to fire radio hosts who questioned Cowboys' moves
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones seemingly threatened to fire 105.3 The FAN radio hosts after being asked about Dallas' lack of major offseason moves during his weekly appearance on the "Shan & RJ" show.
"This is not your job," Jones said Tuesday, according to Jon Machota of The Athletic. "Your job isn't to let me go over all the reasons that I did something and I'm sorry that I did it. That's not your job. ... I'll get somebody else to ask these questions. I'm not kidding. You're not going to figure it out what the team is doing right or wrong. If you are, or any five or 10 like you, you need to come to this (NFL) meeting I'm going to today with 32 teams here, you're geniuses."
Jones continued: "You really think you're gonna sit here with a microphone and tell me all of the things that I've done wrong without going over the rights? Listen, we both know we're talking to a lot of great fans, a lot of great listeners. And I'm very sorry for what happened out there Sunday. I'm sick about what happened Sunday."

Jones' remarks follow a 47-9 home loss to the Detroit Lions. The longtime executive called the defeat "very concerning" postgame but said he didn't have any plans of making a coaching change.

The Cowboys have been recently linked to several high-profile names that would address major roster needs, but the team has yet to add a star player this year. Dallas wasn't able to sign Derrick Henry in free agency, and Jones recently said the club couldn't afford the star running back.
Most recently, the Cowboys were viewed as a potential landing spot for Davante Adams, who had requested a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders. However, Cowboys director of player personnel Stephen Jones later said he didn't think the team was interested in acquiring Adams and lining him up opposite All-Pro wideout CeeDee Lamb. Adams was reportedly traded to the New York Jets on Tuesday.
"One of the stupidest things I've ever done, that anybody had ever analyzed was buy the Cowboys," Jerry Jones said Tuesday, per Machota. "It was an idiot that did that. So idiot things can turn into good decisions. Smart things can turn into bad decisions. The facts are when you make one, you don't really know if it's going to be good or not at the time. You want some conversation this morning, you're getting it."
Dallas is 3-3 this season with a minus-42 point differential.
