Saints signing Kamara to 2-year, $24.5M extension
The New Orleans Saints are signing running back Alvin Kamara to a two-year, $24.5-million contract extension, his agent told Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
The deal includes $22 million guaranteed and will keep Kamara under contract through the 2026 season, notes Garafolo. It'll also save roughly $18 million in salary-cap space for the Saints in 2025, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
The 29-year-old still had one year left on his previous contract, but his cap number in 2025 would've been $29 million, per Over The Cap.
Kamara has spent his entire NFL career with the Saints, who drafted him in the third round in 2017. The former Tennessee stud has amassed 10,738 scrimmage yards and 84 total touchdowns in 108 appearances with New Orleans.
Kamara has never rushed for over 1,000 yards in a season but is on pace to top the 1,000-yard mark from scrimmage for the eighth straight campaign. In seven games this year, he's recorded an NFL-high 145 touches for 690 yards and seven TDs.
Kamara and the Saints negotiated a new deal during the offseason, but the two sides weren't able to reach an agreement. The five-time Pro Bowl tailback said on Sept. 2 that he wouldn't address his contract situation again until after the 2024 season.
