Dalvin Cook set to make Cowboys debut vs. 49ers

The Dallas Cowboys elevated veteran running back Dalvin Cook from their practice squad on Saturday, putting him on track to make his debut with the team during Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Cook signed with Dallas in August but has yet to play this season.

The Cowboys have struggled on the ground this season, as they rank dead last in rushing yards (463) and yards per carry (3.5). Rico Dowdle leads the team with 246 rushing yards but has yet to score a touchdown run. Dallas' running back depth chart also features Ezekiel Elliott and Deuce Vaughn.

Once one of the NFL's best running backs, Cook played most of last season for the New York Jets but recorded only 67 rushing attempts for 214 yards. After mutually agreeing to part ways with the Jets, the 29-year-old joined the Baltimore Ravens for the playoffs but had only eight postseason carries.

Dallas is coming off a bye following a 47-9 loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 6.
