Report: Love avoided major injury with groin strain
Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is dealing with a strained groin that isn't considered major after undergoing an MRI, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Love is expected to improve throughout the week and will continue to be evaluated, per Rapoport.
The Utah State product exited the team's Week 8 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars because of the groin injury. He was replaced by backup Malik Willis, who completed 4 of 5 pass attempts for 56 yards and a touchdown. He also had four carries for 23 yards.
Love, who turns 26 on Nov. 2, missed two contests with an ankle issue earlier this year. He's thrown for 1,547 yards, 15 touchdowns, and nine interceptions in six appearances this season. His interception total is tied for most in the league, but he also leads all qualified passers with a 7.5% touchdown rate on 201 pass attempts.
The Packers play the Detroit Lions in Week 9. Willis is expected to start if Love is unable to play.
