New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave exited Sunday's 23-22 loss to the Carolina Panthers after taking a big hit from Carolina Panthers defensive back Xavier Woods in the first quarter.

Olave was placed on a board before being carted off and was ruled out with a concussion shortly after. Woods was flagged for unnecessary roughness on the play.

Olave was taken to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center for further evaluation and later discharged, the Saints announced. He will return to New Orleans with the rest of the team.

The 24-year-old previously entered the concussion protocol in Week 6 and missed one contest. He returned against the Los Angeles Chargers last week, catching eight passes for 107 yards. Olave recently said he was considering wearing a Guardian Cap in games this season.

Olave shared a positive update on social media postgame.

Former New Orleans wide receiver Michael Thomas blamed quarterback Derek Carr for Olave's injury in a series of tweets.

Carr responded to Thomas' comments postgame.

"I have love for Mike. When he does that, I don't really care for it, obviously," Carr said, according to Fox Sports. "I've had so many teammates over the years, and he's the one dude who didn't get along with me. I don't know what I did to him, I don't know why he feels that way."

The veteran QB finished Week 9 with 18 completions on 31 attempts for 236 yards and one touchdown.
